what is evaluation
the way people feel about the quality of smth
actor’s evaluation
they are selling a product which is their talent that is hard to evaluate because the evaluation is based on opinion
after th show what do actors do
wait for the review in the local papers. if it’s good take in acount of your strenghths; if it’s bad acount for your weakness
2 points of view of evaluation
the teacher: grown-up pt of view. peers: young audience pt of view. Peers have the oppurtunity to learn even more in the place of the critic
one of the key traits of an actor
confidence, by knowing our strenghts.
APROACH
presentation is important; teachers take pts of for asking to go later, taking your time (not being prepared) or have a negative attitude.
SET-UP
if props are allowed the actor will set up quickly and quietly.
INTRODUCTION
you introduce yourself by giving your name, title of the play, author of play, and character you will be playing. should be clear and confident
ENERGY
your scenes must have vocal, physical, facial, or emotional energy. have appropriate movement and emotional levels, captivating the audience.
VOICE
main thing a director will loof for is projection, articulation, pronunciation, confidence, quality, and intensity
main voice things
projection: voice is easily heard throught-out the audience
intensity: stressed tones of the voice etc…
articulation: all words are clear
pronuciation: words said correctly according to the setting of the story
quality: pleasantness of one’s voice
MOVEMENT
use of posture, body language, gestures, blocking, props, business, pantomime supports the goal of the scene
key terms of movement
posture: hot the actor holds his or her body based on the characteristics of the character
Body language: the message a character sends without speaking
gesture: the movements we make with hands to reinforce the message sent with speaking
blocking: planned out movement the actors do on stage
Business
things an actor does on-stage in character to appear naturally busy. to support the scene, not distract it.
patomime
pretending to use props
pacing
starts slow (exposition), but intensifys at a steady pace to the climax. progresses at a rate that keeps them interested and shows the actors hard work.
CHARACTERIZATION
to mak the scene unique and interesting the actors must understand the character they are playing= character who is unique and defined
LINES AND MEMORIZATION
after a few seconds you still can’t remember the line say “line” and someone will read the line and you pick up from there.
