Uniform Circular Motion Flashcards
(10 cards)
Uniform Circular Motion (UCM)
An object which moves in circular path with constant speed. Even though Speed is constant but velocity changes due to direction
Angular Displacement (θ)
Angle covered at the center of the circle by the object.
Angular Displacement measured in
Radians
1 full circle=2pie radians
Angular Velocity (ω)
Rate at which angular displacement changes.
Angular Velocity (ω) formula-
ω = θ / t (θ in radians, t in seconds)
Linear & Angular Velocity Relation
v = rω
-v = Linear speed (m/s)
-r = Radius
-ω = Angular velocity
Centripetal Acceleration (aₐ)
Acceleration that keeps an object in circular motion.
Centripetal Acceleration (aₐ) formula
aₐ = v² / r = rω²
Centripetal Force (Fₐ)
Force that acts toward the center to keep the object moving in a circle.
Centripetal Force (Fₐ)
formula
Fₐ = mv² / r = mrω²
