Define Geography
A field of science devoted to the study of lands, features, inhabitants, and phenomena of the Earth and planets.
Define Human Geography
The branch of geography that deals with the study of people and their communities, cultures, economies, and interaction.
Define Physical Geography
Physical geography another branch of geography that includes studies of natural features of the Earth’s surface, as landforms, drainage features, climates, soils, and vegetation.

- Physical

Cartography
Cartography which is the science of mapmaking, next a map is a two-dimensional or flat-scale model of Earth’s surface, or a portion of it, an absolute location of a description of an exact place on a objective coordinate system like a grid, lastly a relative location is the portion of something based on its surroundings.
Two ways geographers use maps
- As a tool to identify an objects absolute
2. As a communication tool to convey the distribution of human activities or physical features.
Identify the progression of early world maps
Examining the changes of how maps have changed over time by looking at the first ever map to our map nowadays. There was a drastic difference in how the explorers thought the continents looked like versus how the look now.
Define mental maps
Maps that provide people with essential means of sense in the world and of storing means of making sense in the world and of storing and recalling information about patterns of Earths physical and human features.
Describe 3 ways we use mental maps
1) Finding our way from point A to point B 2) Another way we use mental maps are is for organizing and storing information for future reference

Give an example of how we use mental maps in our daily lives
Roads, landmarks, and districts are in mental maps because people use these features to get around.
