Unit 1 Exp Design CB Flashcards
Testable question
Questions that can be answered by using experimental inquiry and observing the natural world.
Non-testable question
Questions that cannot be answered with experimental inquiry.
Quantitative
Something relating to the quantity of something. Measuring something’s quantity rather than its quality.
Trials
Something to try out or an experiment to test the quality.
Qualitative
Something relating to the quality of something. Measuring something’s quality rather than its quantity.
Observation
A comment after observing something or looking at something.
Empirical evidence
An answer obtained by observation and documentation.
Data
Information gained from an experiment or analysis
Models in science
A model that you use for experiments to find a way to a solution.
Analogy
A comparison between two things that are used for clarification
Prototype
The first model that is created, mostly machines.
Hypothesis
Something that you think will happen in the experiment. a thought you think the result will be before the experiment starts.
Variable
Anything that can be changed o measured
Prodecure
An official way of doing something.
Precision
The quality, condition or to be exact or accurate.
Accuracy
The state of something be precise or correct.
Scientific method
Finding answers from experiments and testing.
Control
An element that remains unchanged or unaffected by other variables.
Constant
The factors that don’t change in an experiment
Predict
A possible outcome in an experiment based on logical reasoning.
Infer
An informed guess on science or scientific relationships.
Independent variable
A variable that doesn’t change by the other variables and stands alone.
Dependent variable
The one you measure and the variable that affected.
Manipulated variable
A factor that is purposefully and specifically changed by the experimenter.
