Unit 13 - Volume Flashcards
Volume of Rectangular Prism
lwh
Volume of Triangular Prism
V = (0.5bh) h
V = (√s (s - a) (s - b) (s - c) h
V = (s/2)² √3h
V = (1/2) ab ⋅ sinc x h
One of the h is the h of the triangular base & other is h of the prism
Volume of a Circular Cylinder
V = πr²h
Volume of Cube
(s²) h
(s³)
How do you find the volume of an irregular shape?
Average of the Area of Under & Area of Over
Volume of Cone
1/3Bh
(B = Area of Triangle)
SA of Sphere
4πr²
Volume of Sphere
4/3πr³
Formula for Circumference
πd or 2πr
What is the Great Circle? (2)
- Cross Section at the Poles
- Diameter/Radius of GC = Diameter/Radius of Sphere
What is another way to think of height of a 3D object?
Distance between two parallel bases
How do you find the volume of similar figures?
S³/S³ = V/V
How do you find the SA of similar figures?
S²/S² = SA/SA
What is the formula for density?
m/v
What is the formula for population density?
Number of Things/Area (Amount of Space)
How do you convert in the metric system?
KHDUDCM
King Henry Doesn’t Usually Drink Chocolate Milk
How do you use dimensional analysis?
Convert 60 km/hr to meters/min
1. First write original proportion (60km/hr)
2. Then multiply it by a unit proportion so one of the units is opposite
(60 km/hr x 1 hour/60 min x 1000 m/1 km)
3. Cross out opposite units
(60 km/1 hr x 1 hour/60 minutes x 1000 m/1 km**)
4. Cross out opposite same numbers/simplify
5. Multiply across
(1000m/minutes)
