Battle of Batoche/ Northwest resistance

A

The northwest resistance was an uprising of the metis people against the Canadian government located in what is now Sask and Alberta. A key event of the northwest resistance is the battle of batoche, where the Canadian forces defeated the metis after they did not receive the script to their land. After the resistance Louis riel surrenders and is arrested for Treason and Big bear is imprisoned

During the red river resistance the metis seized fort garry and blocked Canadians surveyors, riel forms a provisional government to negotiate the energy of Manitoba into confederation.
