Unit 3: Physiques Flashcards
(15 cards)
What is an example of a parrallel curcuit?
String lights.
What is an example of a series curcuit?
A stove
What is DC? Give an example?
Only goes one way or one way street.
Example: batteries and currents
What is AC? Give an example?
That goes in two directions that alternates back and forth. Example: fridge
What is current?
A closed path a long which electrons that are powered by an energy source can flow
What is Friction?
the resistance that one surface or object encounters when moving over another.
What is static electricity?
Is caused by the build up of charges on the surface of an object
What is potential difference?
the difference between the electric potential energy per unit of charge in a circuit
What is charging by induction?
method used to charge an object without actually touching the object to any other charged object.
What is conduction?
a material in which electrons can move easily from one another
What is a resistor?
an electrical component that limits or regulates the flow of electrical current in an electronic circuit.
What is resistance?
how difficult it is for electrons to get through a device
What is forces of attraction?
Any particular force that draws two objects or particles towards each other.
What are forces of repulsion?
The force that exists between two or more comparable or similar charges
What is grounding?
the process of directing excess electricity to the ground via a wire
