Global Interaction
The ability of people to communicate all over the Earth
Culture
Ways of life including arts, beliefs and institutions of a certain groups of people that are passed down from generation to generation.
Equity
Fairness and justice
Identity
The distinguishing character/ personality of an individual
Globalisation
Used to describe how trade and technology have made the world into a more connected and interdependent place.
Commodities
Any useful/valuable things, especially something that is bought and sold.
Commercialization
The process of bringing new products or services to market
Commonality
Possession of common features or attributes
Diversity
Having a range of people with various social and ethnic backgrounds
Interconnection
The state of being connected or linked with one another
Core
Countries with the highest levels of economic power
(Ex: North America)
Periphery
Counties that are less developed than the semi-periphery and core countries.
These countries usually receive a small share of global wealth.
TNCs
Transnational corporations (TNCs) are businesses that have a global reach.
Sovereignty
Supreme power especially over a politically organized unit
Consumer culture
A lifestyle hyper-focused on spending money to buy material goods
Homogenisation
To make more uniform throughout in texture, mixture, quality, etc.
Dilution
When the cultures are blended and is a progress of our lives becoming similar
Cultural traits
Transmission of ideas, meanings and values around the world in such a way as to extend and intensify social relations.
Cultural imperialism
Domination where cultural meanings of a foreign culture are imposed upon native cultures.
Urban landscapes
A dense accumulation of building structures with a variety of shapes, sizes, proportions located over a fairly extensive territory.
Glocalisation
Combination of the words ‘globalisation’ and ‘localisation’.
Used to describe a type of business that’s distributed globally, but adjusted to meet local needs as well.
