The minimal state theory
one that enforces contract, protects private property, and keeps the peace is all that is needed
What does the minimal state theory reject?
- it rejects paternalism )laws to protect people from harming themselves such as seatbelts)
- moral législations (laws that promote virtue such as no prostitution laws
- redistribution of income or wealth ( taxes that subsidize housing or healthcare )
What are the two reasons of imposing liberalism
self interest- imposing of liberalism to eliminate or reduce terrorist threats
and humanitarianism- for moral or ethical reasons, such as to improve living conditions or stop human rights violation
pros of embracing liberalism
more rights and freedoms
-economic increase of quality of life
-build trade relationships
cons of trying to impose liberalism
- rule of law the government above law so corruption
-No protection of private property- government can take property at any time - no rights- only rights for the elite, or those who are favoured by them
-no fair elections and balances on government- rulers want to protect power

- Same as the parents, regardless of place of birth

refusing to follow certain laws to influence government policy especially ones considered unjust
