What is ‘Analytics’ ?
The process of collecting and interpreting data about your brand’s coverage in the media.
Eg/: Netflix, EA Sports and Disney use data analytics to develop tailored content, penetrate new marketing and enhance advertising effectiveness.
What is ‘Algorithm’ ?
A set of rules used to rank, filter and organise the specific content from the users on certain social media platforms.
Eg/: On Tik Tok, when you search or like something on your ‘For You’ page and then refresh, the same content you have searched or liked appears on your page.
What is ‘ASA’ ?
A type of regulation which stands for ‘Advertising Standards Authority’ which covers Radio and TV ads and makes sure that people follow it’s CAP Codes or else the will be consequences such as the company being banned.
What is ‘Brand Identity’ ?
A way of visually appealing audience’s attention relating to the campaign through the use of typography, graphics, colour, etc…
What is ‘BBFC’ ?
A type of regulatory body which stands for ‘British Board of Film Classification’ classifies films and videos released in the uk. Helping audiences make informed choices about the age appropriate ratings.
Eg/: A Netflix series ‘Outer Banks’ has a BBFC rating of 15+, meaning it’s suitable for audiences ages 15 and above as it contains strong language, violence, gun fights, teen romance, etc…
What is ‘Citizenship Journalism’ ?
Information of news reports through the internet from various channels, such as: blogs, social media posts and videos, mainly about real life events.
Eg/: Reporting from major events such as: The 2010 Haiti earthquake, The Arab Spring, The Black Lives Matter movement, etc…
What is ‘Content Metrics’ ?
Data which helps measure the performance of the social media projects and campaigns.
Eg/: Keywords ranks, Follower growths, Shares, Comments, Demographics, Time on the page, etc…
What is ‘Celebrity Culture’ ?
An exposure to Celebrities’ personal lives on media platforms, documentaries or even films/movies.
Eg/: “Celebrity Bear Hunt” ss a reality competition featuring british celebrities’ lives and interactions from their experiences.
What is ‘Cultural Censorship’ ?
The control of any offensive use of language which could harm audiences, leading to negative comments.
Eg/: Political Censorship - in some countries, independent bloggers have been reported due to showing sensitive issues
What is ‘Click Through Rates (CTRs)’ ?
The number of clicks that your advertisements receive from users online on various social media platforms.
Eg/: An AD on Google search received 200 clicks, meaning a CTR of 0.8%
What is ‘Crowdfunding’ ?
What is ‘Crowdsourcing’ ?
Asking people to provide their opinions or ideas on a specific topic ad uses the feedback to support their project development customer service, etc…
Eg/: Coca-cola crowdsources a new flavour of soda via Twitter and Lays crowdsources new flavours on Facebook.
What is ‘Cyberbullying’ ?
Posting harmful and negative comments about someone through social media.
Eg/: spreading lies or posting embarrassing photos or videos of someone on social media.
What is ‘Data Management’ ?
The process and strategies used to collect, organiz, store and utilise data efficiently which often helps the campaign’s target audiences.
Eg/: data backups, data security, data storage & archiving, data analytics, etc…
What is the ‘Data Protection Act’ ?
Media campaigns must follow the consent rules when handling through personal information by handling through the personal information by balancing the public’s rights to privacy.
Eg/: Your school could not sell pupil’s ata to a book or uniform supplier without permission.
What are ‘Digital Natives’ ?
People who are born with the use of online technology which enables them (mainly younger audiences) to have a wider knowledge through social media {social media was mainly used throughout the year 2000}.
Eg/: The younger generation uses technology throughout their daily life so they would have a clear use of understanding.
What are ‘Digital Immigrants’ ?
People who have adopted the use of online technology which enables them (mainly older audiences) to have a less knowledge through social media.
Eg/: The older generation haven’t used technology, since it had been mainly used in the 2000, so they wouldn’t gain that much knowledge of online technology.
