Protagonist
the main character in a work of fiction
Characterization
the methods an author uses to develop a character – appearance, dialogue, actions, thoughts, and other characters’ opinions all help to bring the character to life
Conflict
the problem in a story – character vs. self, character vs. character, character vs. society, character vs. fate/supernatural, character vs. nature
Resolution
the part of the story when the problem is solved
Plausibility
having the appearance of truth; the characters, events, and circumstances are believable
Point of View
the vantage point from which a story is told; first person (a character in the story tells the story) or third person (story is told by someone outside of the story)
Setting
the time and place in which the action of a story occurs
Dialogue
a conversation carried on by the characters in a story
Plot
the sequence of events in a story
Theme
the statement about life a story is trying to get across to the reader (advice the story provides the reader)
