Mortal sin
Serious offences against God, involves a serious immoral act and us turning away from God. Can only be forgiven through Confession
Venial sin
less serious of offences that do not directly destroy our relationship with God. They will weaken or wound our relationship with Him, but not break it. Can be forgiven with Mass or Confession.
3 conditions of mortal sin
1) the sin committed must be of grave (serious) matter
2) it must be committed with full knowledge of the will
3) it must be done with full consent of the will
