What are the major causes of mental illness?
A combination of genetic, biological, psychological, and environmental factors.
What are some examples of a biological factors that can cause mental illness?
Drug and alcohol abuse. Some medical conditions or hormonal changes.
What are some examples of environmental factors that can mental illness?
Early life factors such as negative childhood experiences such as abuse or neglect. In adulthood trauma and stress, traumatic life events or ongoing stress such as social isolation, domestic violence, relationship breakdown, financial or work problems. Traumatic experiences such as living in a war zone.
What is schizophrenia?
A condition of losing touch with reality accompanied by reduced ability to function. Aka: split mind.
