Triangle Trade

A

The triangle trade was a trade route between different countries in the 16th to mid 19th century. As seen in the image you can see a trade route from Africa, Europe, and the New World. This was significant because they traded enslaved people and crops which brought new species to the New World.

Washington Crossing the Delaware

This image is of Washington crossing the Delaware during the revolutionary war by Emanuel Leutze. This image shows Washington and his troops crossing the Delaware river to surprise attack British troops in Trenton, on Christmas night in 1776. You can tell that it is winter because of the icy waters, and it was significant because it helped the colonists win the war.

Trail of Tears

A

This is a painting of the forced removal of the Cherokke people from their homelands in Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, and Alabama, who were moved west of the Mississippi river. As seen in the image you can see many Native Americans sadly leaving their homes. This was significant because it shows the forced removal of Native Americans and how bad it was and that this happened because of the Indian Removal Act of 1830.

The Louisiana Purchase

This image shows the new land the U.S. got in 1803. As seen in the image you can see that the green is the new land which is almost the same amount of land that the U.S. already had. This is significant because it made the country so much bigger and led to Westward expansion.

This photograph by Mathew Brady shows a small depiction of the civil war; he was one of the first people to take photographs during a war. In the photo you can see people walking around with tents which suggest a war or destruction has happened. This is significant because they showed Ameicans an accurate description of what the civil war was actually like.

A

This is a painting of African Americans being able to vote and represent our country. Evidence in this picture is that an African American is voting and you can tell that they are dropping a paper in a box. This is significant because this shows that the country is changing and giving people equal rights now under the 15th amendment.

Towards more civilization. This is significant because this was the idea that the U.S. needed to expand westward and that that would bring better civilization, and would help expand the U.S. and it would make it better.
