what is decentralisation
the movement of population and industry from the urban centre to outlying areas. The term may encompass the processes of both suburbanisation and counter urbanisation
what is homogenisation
the process of people products and places becoming the same
what are edge cities
a self contained settlement which has emerged beyond the original city boundary and developed as a city bin its own right
what is gentrification
the buying and renovating of properties often in more run down areas by wealthy individuals
what is natural population growth
there tends to be more young people in the cities as it is the young that are more likely to migrate from rural areas. they then have children meaning the rates of natural increase are higher In cities
what is rural to urban migration
the movement of people from rural to urban areas. this is divided into push and pull factors. push factors are those that cause people to move away from rural areas. pull factors attract them to urban areas
