What did Magna Carta do and where was it created?
The Magna Carta didn’t permit the king of England to not make any new tax laws without permission of the Magna Carta. It was made in a boat when the Pilgrims were arriving at New England.
What was the Virginia House of Burgesses?
The Virginia House of Burgesses was for the colonists to start making their own government because England was so far away, for the colonies they needed for a government to choose representatives instead of the people of the colonies or the king to make those decisions.
What was the Mayflower Compact?
The Mayflower Compact was the FIRST form of self-government. The colonist promised to behave and control temselfs for the good of the colony. The colonist thought this was best for their colony because they thought they had the right to govern themselfs.
What was the Fundamental Orders of Connecticut?
The Fundamental Order of Connecticut was to make sure that the colony of Connecticut was able to represent itself. The colonist thought that the government that they should get should be based on the rights of citizenship for the colony.
Who was Thomas Hooker?
Thomas Hooker was the one that wrote the Fundamental Orders of Connecticut. He was a puritan and lived in a place next to Boston. He was the one that guaranteed votes right for the men of his church.
What were the Bill of Rights?
This document guarenteed the freedom of speech in the colonies. And many other new laws.
Who was William Penn?
He was born in London in 1644. He was granted a large piece of land from King Charles II in payment for debt in 1681.
