What was the 13th amendment?
A
It abolished enslavement in 1865.

What was the 14th amendment?
A
Equal protection of all laws and can’t deprive anything by race in 1868.

What was the 15th amendment?
A
Prohibits denying the vote by race in 1870.

What were the ‘Jim Crow laws’?
A
Laws that determined where certain people lived, sat and went to school.
Along with lynching and the KKK.

What was the ‘Great Migration’?
A
1917-1932 - 1.5m African Americans moved from the south to cities in the north and west.
500 people fled per day.
By 1933 1/10 of the black population relocated.

What were pull and push factors?
A
Pull - better jobs, stories of improved lives.
Push - lynchings, riots, KKK.
