SDP & business use
If you have two places of work, what policy do you need for your use of car?
SDP & business use or sometimes if it’s very short hours part-time on top of a fulltime one during days SDP & commuting might be ok.
What happens if the customers car is used for their business or their employers business?
It will need to be referred to the underwriting team.
What are the restrictions to class of use in motor policies?
1) hire and reward (taxi)
2) racing, rallies, competitions and trials
3) motor trade
Will adding an additional driver affect the policy premium?
Yes
What are the 4 combinations of additional driver types in a policy?
1/ Policyholder only
2/ Policy holder & spouse only
3/ Policy holder & additional driver
4/ Policyholder & any driver
What information do we need on the additional drivers?
This applies to the spouse and additional driver policies. Not any driver (necessarily).
1/ Who is the main user?
2/ Names of all the additional drivers
3/ Their relationship
What is an “any driver” policy?
A policy that covers anyone (within reason) to drive a vehicle with the policyholder’s permission without them being named on the policy. There is criteria and conditions that apply though.
Why is it important to know who the main driver is?
Because the premium will be based on this person.
Are the policy holder and main driver the same thing?
Not necessarily but they can be.
Why is it important to enter the names of all the additional drivers correctly and fully?
Because it costs the company money and is inconvinient for the customer if they have to call us back to correct details. If the names are not correct, the person buying the policy won’t be covered.
What are the exclusions you’ll need to choose when taking the “any driver” policy (4)?
1/ No exclusions
2/ Over 21s only
3/ Over 25s only
4/ Over 30s only
Why is it important to name certain groups of people on an “any driver” policy
If the following categories of people are not named, they are automatically excluded and it is important to highlight this to the customer:
1/ Any driver under the age of 25
2/ Any driver who has had a claim
3/ Any driver who has had a conviction
4/ Any driver who has a medical condition
Who are automatically excluded from the “any driver” if they are not specified on the policy?

When can you not proceed with a quote for the policy?
If the customer cannot confirm if any of the drivers have any claims/convictions/medical conditions or not, and the details.

Over 21s only
