Q

What is V(MU)? What is it limited by?

A

Minimum unstick speed

  • CAS at and above the a/c can safely lift off the ground and continue takeoff
  • It is limited by the Max CL AoA or when the aircraft tail-strikes the runway

Q

What is the difference between Vs and Vs(1g)?

A

Vs is conventional stall

Vs(1g) is at the point of max CL, and is when the load factor =1

16
Q

What is LW?

A

Landing weight

-Weight of a/c at time of landing at destination

17
Q

What is TOW?

A

Takeoff weight

18
Q

What is Ramp weight?

A

Weight of the aircraft at the ramp, with everything on board, including taxi fuel

19
Q

What is MTOW defined/limited by?

A

Structural limitation of the landing gear.

must be able to handle a landing impact with vertical speed of -360fpm

20
Q

What is MLW defined/limited by?

A

Structural limitation of the landing gear

must be able to handle a landing impact with a vertical speed of -600fpm

21
Q

What is MZFW defined/limited by?

A

The bending moments that are felt at the wing roots. bending moments is maximum when there is no fuel in the wings

22
Q

What is max structural taxi weight defined/limited by?

A

The stresses on shock absorbers and potential bending of landing gear during ground turns

23
Q

How long can TOGA thrust be applied to the engines?

A

Normal: 5 min
Engine failure: 10 minutes
Operationally in an emergency: as required (remembering you may exceed certification tests)

24
Q

How does take-off thrust available change with temp and pressure altitude?

A

For a given TOGA thrust available does not change below a certain temperature (flat rating temp/ref temp)
Above this T(ref) TOGA thrust available will decrease
Increasing PA will decrease max TOGA power, and decrease T(ref)
Above T(ref), thrust is limited by the EGT

25
Q

What is V1? Definition?

A

Decision Speed
The max speed the crew must have started actioning a go/no go decision and ensure the aircraft can still stop within the limits of the runway

26
Q

What is V(EF)? What can it not be less than?

A

The CAS at which the critical engine is assumed to have failed. May not be less than V(MCG)

27
Q

What is Vr? What can it not be less than? V(MCA)?

A

Rotation Speed, where the pilto begins to rotate the aircraft at about 3˚/sec
Not less than:
-V1
-105% V(MCA)

28
Q

What is V(LOF)

A

Liftoff speed, the speed where the aircraft first becomes airborne

29

30
Q

What speeds must V2(min) not be less than?

A
