What are the recommendations around the Measles-mups-rubella vaccine and pregnancy?
A
- contraindicated in pregnancy
- women of childbearing age should avoid pregnancy for 28 days after vaccination
- women who are screened as non rubella immune in pregnancy are recommended to have the MMR vaccine and retest for immunity after birth
- risk to developing fetus is hypothetical, no actual evidence of congenital abnormalities
- accidental receipt of MMR vaccination in pregnancy is not an indication for termination
