What is a former made out of?
Soft wood
What is special about the formers?
The angles are shaped in a way that makes it easier to remove the plastic once it is set.
What happens after the heater is turned on?
the plastic becomes soft and pliable and after a few minutes it is ready for forming
What happens after the heater is turned off?
the mould is lifted upwards by lifting the lever until it locks into position
What happens after the vacuum is turned on?
all the air is pumped out from beneath the plastic sheet
What happens after the plastic sheet comes out of the vacuum former?
The excess plastic is trimmed
What is the function of the vacuum former?
to create vacuum formed products
What are 2 safety rules with the vacuum former?
- ## don’t touch the heating component
What type of plastic is used with vacuum formers?
Thermosetting plastic, e.g. acrylic and rigid polystyrene.
