(9 cards)
Why do you want to be a tutor?
I love the feeling of helping someone understand a concept they were struggling with, and I’m eager to use my knowledge and skills to support students in their learning journey.
What are your greatest strengths?
I’m a patient and empathetic communicator, and I’m confident in my ability to break down complex concepts and explain them in a way that’s easy to understand
What are your weaknesses?
I can sometimes be too hard on myself, but I’m actively working on finding a balance between striving for excellence and being realistic about my progress.
What is your educational background?
I graduated with a degree in music from Etobicoke School of the Arts, and I excelled in courses related to English, math and sciences like chemistry and biology
How do you handle distractions during a tutoring session?
I would create a quiet and organized space for tutoring sessions, and I would use positive reinforcement to encourage students to stay focused and engaged.
How would you motivate a demotivated student?
I would start by identifying the student’s strengths and building on them. I would also make learning fun and engaging, and I would celebrate their progress, no matter how small.
How do you incorporate e-learning into your tutoring sessions?
I’m comfortable using online platforms for sharing documents, conducting quizzes, and providing feedback. I’m also open to exploring new tools and technologies to improve my tutoring sessions.
What would you do if your student did not accomplish an assigned task?
I would have an open and honest conversation with the student to understand why they struggled with the task. I would then work with them to identify the root cause of the problem and provide additional support or resources.
Describe your tutoring philosophy and how it influences your teaching methods.
I believe that learning should be an engaging and interactive process. I would adapt my teaching methods to suit the students’ learning styles and needs, and I would create a positive and supportive learning environment.
