Velocity and Distance Time Graphs Flashcards
(8 cards)
What is the difference between speed and velocity?
Speed is how fast you are going and Velocity is how fast you are going in a direction
What does the gradient of a distance time graph tell you?
How fast your object is travelling (speed)
What do the flat sections represent?
Object being stationery or stopped
What do straight uphill/downhill sections represent?
A steady speed
What do downhill sections mean?
Going back to the starting point
What do curves in a graph represent?
Acceleration or Deceleration
What is acceleration?
How quickly velocity is changing
For a velocity-time graph, how do you work out the distance travelled
Area under any section of the graph is equal to the distance travelled in the time interval
