Venous and Lymphatic Draining of UE Flashcards
(12 cards)
What is the difference between the R and L side for lymphatic drainage?
L side is responsible for 75% of the drainage and the thoracic trunk branches off of the L jugular and L subclavian trunks while the right side is only responsible for 25% of the drainage. The R side drains the R superior corner of the body
What lymph nodes drain into the apical lymph node?
infraclavicular and central
What lymph nodes drain into the central lymph node?
humeral, pectoral, subscapular
What lymph node drains into the humeral lymph node?
supratrochlear
What lymph nodes make up the axillary lymph nodes?
apical, central, pectoral, humeral, subscapular
What is the function of the thoracic duct
drains left subclavian trunk into the left jugulo-subclavian junction
What are the functions of the R and L subclavian trunks?
They drain apical nodes into the R lymphatic duct and the L thoracic duct
What is the function of the humeral node?
drains lateral hand and forearm, medial arm, deep tissues of forearm and supratrochlear nodes
What is the function of the pectoral node?
drains anterior thoracic wall and breast
What is the function of the subscapular node?
drains posterior shoulder, posterior thoracic wall, and scapular region
What is the function of the central node?
drains pectoral, humeral, and subscapular nodes into the apical node
