(6 cards)
1
Q
High pressure alarms
A
Increased resistance to air flow
(Machine is pushing too hard)
2
Q
3 obstructions that can cause high pressure alarms
A
- Kinked tube - unkink it
- Water in tube - drain away from patient
- Mucus in airway - cough and deep breathing BEFORE you start suctioning
3
Q
Low pressure alarms
A
Decreased resistance to airflow

Causes of low pressure alarms
A
- Disconnection of tubing - reconnect it
- Disconnection of O2 sensor tube - reconnect unless tube is on floor (bag it and call RT)
5
Q
Acid base imbalance If vent settings are too high (overventilating)
A
RESPIRATORY ALKALOSIS

Q
Acid base imbalance if vent settings are too low (underventilating)
A
RESPIRATORY ACIDOSIS
