  • They Attacked over 100 cities + US bases.

  • Launched in 1961.
  • Was intended to protect villages and villagers.
  • Surrounding them with barbed wire and fortifications.
  • Were to be armed and trained to defend their communities.
  • Meant to prevent them from helping the Viet Cong.
  • They were unpopular amongst villagers and program was abandoned in 1963.
