- France invaded Japan and saw the opportunity to invade and take control of Vietnam for materials

What was the Dien Bien Phu?
Dien Bien Phu was a crucial battle in 1954 during the First Indochina War between French and Viet Minh forces. Despite French expectations, the Viet Minh’s effective tactics led to a French surrender. This defeat played a key role in the division of Vietnam and the subsequent Vietnam War.
What was the Geneva Agreement?
The Geneva Agreement of 1954 divided Vietnam temporarily along the 17th parallel after the First Indochina War. The goal was to weaken North Vietnam’s support for the communist forces in South Vietnam. However, the operation did not succeed in its objectives and faced criticism for its limited impact.
