What did Aristotle believe about learning moral virtues
Aristotle believed that moral virtues could not be learned in the way mathematics or the capitals of
all the countries in Europe could; they can only learned through practice. He explains:
“Men become builders by building, and lyre players by playing the lyre; so too we become just by doing
just acts, temperate by doing temperate acts, brave by doing brave acts…”
”
What did Aristotle believe about character
A person’s actions flow or stem from the sort of person they are. A kind person is much more likely to
perform a kind action than a nasty person, for example. So people should be interested in the first place
in cultivating virtue.
