Adults is 600IU for normal and preg/lactating, and 400IU AI for children.

What is the best indicator for Vit D status and why?
serum [25(OH)D] is the best indicator because it has a long circulating half life (15days).
Why is calcitriol not a good indicator of status?
It has a short half-life (<15 hours) and does not decreases until deficiency severe).
What can cause Vit D toxicity and what can it lead it?
Excess INTAKE can lead to D intoxication which leads to hypercalcemia and eventually soft tissue calcification.
