Vitamin A
What it does - healthy skin, to see in dim light, growth of children, moist and healthy mucus membranes, antioxidant
Found in - milk, cheese eggs, liver, kidney, oily fish. Plant - cabbage, soinach, kale, lettuce peas
Deficiency - dry and infected skin, night blindness - normal blindness, poisoners if too much
Vitamin D
Helps body absorb calcium, helps calcium be laid down in bones and teeth for strength
Found in - sun, oily fish, meat, eggs, butter
Deficiency - bones weaken and bend
Vitamin E
Antioxidant - helps prevent heart disease and cancers
Found in - soya, olive oil, corn oil, nuts, seeds,
Vitamin K
Helps blood clot after injury
Found in - green leafy vegetables, liver, cheese, green tea
Deficiency- rare may occur in babies
Vitamin B1
Allows energy to be released from carbs
Found in - meats esp pork, milk, cheese, eggs, vegetables, fresh and dry fruits
Beri beri
Vitamin B2
Allows energy to be released from carbs, fats and proteins
Found in - milk, eggs
Vitamin c
Helps body absorb irons, maintains connective tissue and binds body cells together, antioxidant
Found in - fruits and veg esp citrus fruits
Deficiency- anaemia, scurvy, bleeding under skin, loose teeth, wounds don’t heal
Calcium
Makes strong bones and teeth, makes nerves and muscles work, helps blood clot after injury
Found in - milk, cheese, yogurt
Iron
Makes hemoglobin in red blood cells to carry oxygen to all body cells to produce energy
Found in - red meat, kidney liver, whole meal bread, egg yolk, spinach
Deficiency- anaemia, tiredness, weak lack of energy, pale skin complexion, weak and split nails
Sodium
Controls water in body and makes nerves and muscles work properly
Found in - salt, cheese, stock cubes
Deficiency- muscles cramps too much leads to high blood pressure and CV disease
How does water enter the body
Consumption of fluids and in many foods. Consuming water increases hydration. Carful,t regulated to stay healthy
How does water leave the body
Sweat, exhaled in breath, urine. Kidneys - important regulating quantity of water in blood - more using if too much water.
Functions of water
Urine - waste water eliminated from blood. Urea, chemical that break down excess protein.

- water absorb energy when converts liquid to gas.
- body temp too high - swear gland release sweat
- water in salsa is helps turn food to paste pushed easily through digestive system.
Water regulating body temp
- when too high triggers sweat glands which release sweat.
- when liquid sweat is released onto surface of skin it absorbs heat energy from blood vessels
- absorb energy and converts it from liquid to gas.
