Used to execute commands, sometimes with other keys. Commands vary with software
Function keys
A piece of hardware that works with the CPU
Peripheral
Activates insert or typeover
Insert
Activates/deactivates the numerical keypad
Num lock
The program that manages other programs on the computer. It prepares the computer to receive instructions and run software
Operating system
A box that gives you setup options for your document
Dialogue box
A computer program designed to perform a specific task directly for the user or for another application
Application software
Text or graphics that appear in the bottom margin of each pg in a document presentation or worksheet
Footer
Computer settings that are already there
Default settings
An element if the program window that displays and organizes the commands and tools for a program into tabs and groups for easy access
Ribbon
The box where the application software is displayed on the monitor. The features on all windows are similar
Window
A box that appears when you reset the mouse pointer on a button and that displays the name of the button, a keyboard shortcut if available and a description of the buttons function

Reminders for certain steps that the computer is programmed to give you
Prompts
Indenting all the line in a paragraph from the left except the first
Hanging indent
Text or graphics that appears in the top margin of each pg in a document presentation or worksheet
