Career Cluster
Careers that are grouped together because of the commonalities, they are considered similar.
Interest Inventory
A questionnaire to find your interests.
Necessary/transferable skills
Skills used in one career that can be used in another.
Deposit
To put money into the bank.
Withdrawal
To take money out of the bank.
Direct dposit
Program that allows an employer to deposit a paycheck directly into an employee’s account.
Checking account
Money used to pay bills.
Savings account
Money is safe for some important use.
Interest
The money paid to customers for allowing financial institution to have a use for their money.
Debit/ATM check
You have the money, and it’s directly pulled from your checking account, or get money out of an ATM.
Credit card
You don’t have the money, but you agree to pay it back in full or in installments at the end of every month.
Gross pay
All of the money you make.
Net pay
The amount left after all the decisions have been taken from gross pay.
Social security benefits
Money from the federal government when you are 65 years or older.
Social security number
A 9-digit number given by the federal government as your “identity,” no two are the same.
State income tax
Money that goes to run the state (Texas) Governor’s salary and State police.
Discrimination in the workplace
The ways an employer can pick on you, gender bias, age discrimination, and race discrimination.
Equal pay act
Law that says you must be paid equally for the same job experience and education are equal, can not pay men more than women.
References
People who tell employer how qualified you are and how responsible you are and a good recommendation.
Recession
Too much stuff, prices lower and people lose jobs.
Inflation
“Blow up” not enough stuff, prices increase took much. Pay is more because there is less supply than demand.
Balanced economy
People have jobs, wages are fair, enough stuff.

Where you work.

Application for the job.
