Mexican Revolution 7.1

A

Definition- The Mexican Revolution was a fight in response to Porfirio Diaz´s foreign business interests and agreements from Mexico. This made their citizens mad because the Mexicans wanted to keep the trade within their state and not allow others to profit from these agreements. The second cause was that the large landowners were being all land and the Mexican government would not redistribute the land, despite the citizens’ wishes. The final straw was when a representative was about to be elected, but Diaz had been put in jail and killed before could go into office.

LO(1) - The internal factor that caused the Mexican Revolution was that almost all of the land was going to specific people and middle/lower class citizens were having land stripped from them. The external factor was the deals that Porfirio Diaz was helping other countries and at this time, that was not a goal that the Mexicans had in mind.

The Rushian became more influenced by communism and introduced the Bolsheviks who were an organization representing the revolutionary working class of Russia and shocked many big powers by how sufficient the government worked.

LO(1)- Two internal problems that occurred was the lack of economic growth and the reluctance to recognize civil liberties. Two external problems that occurred were the Russo-Japanese Revolution and World War I. They both led to big changes when the government realized something had to be done, or else the Russian state would collapse.

A

Definition - The Great Depression began when there was inflation in Germany after the Treaty of Versailles was created. This led to a serious matter in the American banks because they realized their investments were not going to turn up the citizens began to all run to the banks and remove their money causing major bank failures. Then the new deal was created by FDR to counteract the effects of the Great Depression as he ran for president.

LO(4) - The US responded by trying the involve the government in the economy through the New Deal. Germany struggled a lot with the Great Depression as their banks crashed and struggled to fight inflation. The Great Depression also spread from the industrialized countries to many others such as Latin America, Africa, and Asia. Lastly, Japan was one of the countries who did a very good job of rapidly digging themselves out of the Depression by lessening the value of their money to fight against the inflation that many states were dealing with.

Five Year Plans (Soviet Union) 7.4

A

Definition- Five Year Plans was an idea used by the Soviet Union under Stalin. This was different from many other forms of economic structure because the Soviet Union had little economic attachment to Europe and US, so they did not suffer much from the Great Depression. They chose to make a five-year plan for the future of their economy.

LO(4) - The five-year plan to think about how they were going to improve their economy in that amount of time. Two of the main steps were to industrialize the economy and then focus on collectivization. This meant that Stalin would force all of the Kulaks to work on the land the government took and all of the food would go straight to the government, except for the excess.

Causes of WWII 7.6

A

Definition- There were many causes of WWII including fascism and Nazism. This also began due to Germany’s defeat and the terms they agreed to in the treaty of Versailles which is another cause. The Mandates were also something that caused tensions to lead up the war as well as when Hitler broke the agreement and invaded the land he was told not to in the treaty of Versailles. After breaking the agreement Britain followed a policy of appeasement, but when the German-Soviet Nonaggression Pact was broken it marked the start of World War II.

LO(6)- World War II was mainly caused by Germany’s major reparations needed after the Treaty of Versailles, the worldwide economic depression, failure of appeasement, and the rise of militarism in Germany. It also led to many mass-violence acts in the near future such as the Holocaust.

Holocaust 7.8

A

Definition- The Holocaust was a mass genocide which was Hitler’s final solution. In this, he killed 6 million Jews & 6 million Slavs, Romani, those physically & mentally disabled, the elderly, and LGBT. The holocaust was almost coming somewhat from the idea of fascism when Hilter began to take over, but instead of just trying to get more control and power, he just blamed the Jews for Germany´s nonsuccess.

LO(7.8)- The Holocaust was caused by the inspiration of mass killings as well as the drive for power after WWI and WWII. This was an extremely famous genocide and took the outside forces such as the US to take him down and even caused the fire bombings in the process.
