vocabulary Flashcards
Jupiter
Jupiter is the fifth planet from the sun and the largest in
the Solar System. It has a mass one thousandth than the sun.
Saturn
Saturn is the sixth planet from the sun and the second largest in the Solar System. It has an average radius of about nine times than earth.
Uranus
Uranus is the seventh planet from the sun. It has the third largest planetary radius and fourth largest planetary mass in the Solar System.
Neptune
Neptune is the eighth and farthest known Solar planet from the sun. In the Solar System, it is the forth largest
planet by diameter and the third most massive planet.
Dwarf planet
A dwarf planet resembles a small planet but lacking certain technical criteria that are required for it to be a p
classed as one.
Comet
A comet is an icy, when passing close to the sun it begins to warm, which it starts to release gasses, a process called outgassing.
Asteroid
Asteroids are rocky worlds revolving around the sun that are too small to be called planets. The mass of all asteroids is less than that of Earth’s moon.
Meteoroid
A meteoroid is a small rocky or metallic body in outer space. If a meteoroid enters the Earth’s atmosphere it vaporizes and is often called a shooting star.
Sedna
Sedna is a large planetoid in the outer reaches of the Solar System that is at a distance of 85 astronomical units from the Sun, about three times farther than Neptune
Extra Terrestrial life
Extraterrestrial life, life that may exist or may have existed in the universe outside of Earth.
