How are volcanoes formed?
Volcanoes are formed when magma from within the Earth’s upper mantle works its way to the surface.
What is a shield volcano?
Shield volcanoes have gently sloping sides and runny lava that covers a wide area. Gases escape very easily from shield volcanoes.
What is a constructive plate boundary?
Is when plates move apart
What is a destructive plate boundary?
occurs when oceanic and continental plates move together.
What is a composite volcano?
Composite volcanoes are steep-sided and cone-shaped, made up of layers of ash and lava and containing sticky lava which doesn’t flow very far
What is a conservative plate boundary?
occurs where plates slide past each other in opposite directions, or in the same direction but at different speeds
