Terrain and mountains can sometimes cause rapid oscillations of the VOR needle this is know as
Scalloping
Max error expected from a VOR is
5 degrees
Each dot on a VOR represent
2 degrees max 10
when tuning in a colocated vor/dme

and the DME will tune automatically when VOR frequency is selected
