Q

characterisies his son as “ a half-fledged thing set free into the wildness”

A

noun “wildness” portray sthe school he is going to as wild and chaotic - ironic as schools are strict - the irony shows how he is over sentimental about his son as he is worrging when there is not reason to worry

“thing” is almost dehumanising him making him seem as he is not a mature man but as a ‘thing’ that he is reluctant to let go of.
