Give 3 basic stages of sewage treatment
Screening - removal of large objects, e.g. plastic bottles
Sedimentation - letting sewage sit in a settlement tank to separate sludge and effluent
Digestion - anerobic for sludge (to produce methane and fertilisers) and aerobic for effluent (to break down harmful microbes so that water can be released back into the environment)
Name 3 sources of water in the UK which can be purified to provide us with potable water
Ground - aquifers (rocks which trap water water underground)
Surface - lakes, rivers and reservoirs
Waste - water which has been contaminated by human processes (e.g. water as a by-product of some industrial processes, perhaps with other chemicals in)
