Wave Characteristics Flashcards
(9 cards)
What is a Cycle?
One positive and one negative iteration of a wave representing a full 360°
What is a Period?
Time it takes for a wave to complete one cycle. Measured in seconds.
What is Frequency?
Number of cycles per second. Measured in Hertz.
What is Phase?
A particular point in the cycle of a waveform. Measured in degrees.
What is Wavelength?
The distance of one cycle, measured at the beginning and end of the Waveform.
What is Amplitude?
Value of the power of a sine wave. Measured in decibels.
What is Signal Propagation?
How an EM wave travels through a medium
What is Free Space Loss?
Power loss due to spreading of the wave’s energy
What is Polarization?
The direction of an EW’s E-field in reference to the earth’s surface.
