what is a wave
a wave is something that transfers energy from one point to another
what is a transverse wave
a wave that moves in a direction at right angles to the way in which the particles are vibrating

the amplitude of a wave is half the distance from peak to trough also thought of as the height of the wave and its measure in meters

the wave speed is how quickly it travels from its source

the period of the wave is the time taken for one complete wave to be produced

the process by which a beam of light or other system of waves is spread out as a result of passing through a narrow aperture or across an edge,
