What is Ellis’ perspective on religions?

A

That religion is irrational and damaging to our mental health.
Concept of sin evokes great amounts of shame and guilt.
Its bad to associate bad things as a part of gods plan, and we shouldn’t be using religion as a way to regulate our emotions.

  • people who are more religious tend to perform more prosocial behaviour.
  • though religion has seen to be associated with antisocial behaviour and aggression when groups are faced with outgroups (e.g. Christians and abortion)
