nimble
adj - quick and light in movement or action; agile
Ex: Although her body was old and failing, her mind was still nimble.
dull
adj - lacking interest or excitement; lacking brightness, vividness, or sheen
Ex: The kids fell asleep during the dull movie.
vigilant
adj - keeping careful watch for possible danger or difficulties
Ex: The citizens of Gotham City were asked to remain vigilant after there was a spike in crime.
adequate
adj - satisfactory or acceptable in quality or quantity
Ex: As she walked into her new home for the next six months, she was thrilled to see that the natural light in the living room would be more than adequate for her many houseplants.
gullible
adj - easily persuaded to believe something; credulous
Ex: The students easily convinced the gullible substitute teacher to let them watch a movie instead of finishing their homework.
devour
verb - eat hungrily or quickly; (of fire, etc) destroy completely; read quickly and eagerly
After excitedly waiting for a few hours in line at the midnight book release, he was ready to go home and devour the next book in his favorite series.
nibble
verb - take small bites out of; show cautious interest in something
She wasn’t very hungry, so she just nibbled on her lunch.
boast
verb - talk with excessive pride and self-satisfaction about one’s achievements, possessions, or abilities
She didn’t talk about her awesome test score in case her classmates thought she was boasting.
huff
verb - blow out loudly; puff; express one’s annoyance or offense
Athena huffed when her mom set out her bowl of food a minute late.
lament
verb - mourn a person’s loss or death
“Oh no! They’re out of mint chocolate chip,” he lamented to his mom.
