What is the wellness-illness continuum? What significance does it have to the role of the professional nurse?
The wellness-Illness continuum is an illustrative tool that allows one to view the health status of the client/individual visually.
It is a good tool when the provider wants to view how the client views their own health by allowing them to place themselves on the continuum
Define Collaboration
A joint effort between or among two or more people for the purpose of creating change towards a mutually desired goal
Define Communication
All messages, verbal or non-verbal, conscious or unconscious, between or among two or more individuals
Define environment
The physical surroundings in which an individual exists, including chemical and biological atmosphere
Define Nursing Practice
Those actions taken by the nurse to decrease the number of stressors and/or strengthen the lines of defense, thus facilitating the individuals quest for homeostasis

The systematic, dynamic, continuys series of independent steps by which nursing care is organized and delivered.

Define Nursing Diagnosis
A clear, concise and definitive statement, based on analysis or assessment data, which identifies the clients health status and concerns that can be affected by nursing actions.
This serves as a basis for client goals and nursing interventions
Define Nursing
The profession or practice of providing care for the sick and infirm
Define Holism
A concept that views an individual as an integrated whole who has a reality independent and greater than the sum of its parts
Define Leadership
A relationship between individuals whereby interpersonal influence is exercised through the process of communication toward the achievement of specific goals

Theory that adult learners need content meaningful to life experiences. They take responsibility in their education and are more committed

Composed of groups of individuals who hold a set of values in common which affect their responses to various stressors

The caretakers ability to listen to another with genuineness, warmth, and sensitivity in order to perceive the other feelings and meanings without losing one’s own identity

The caretakers ability to respond to another so as to promote that individuals well-being

A cognative process involving inclusion of evidence used to:
- Understand the significance of client date
- Identify and diagnose actual or potential problems
- Make clinical decisions to assist problem resolution
- Achieve positive client outcomes
Define Safety
Bringing no harm, injury, or insult to the client, oneself, or others as a result of nursing practice
