Q

Cytokine produyction (effect of PRR signaling)

A

IL-1, IL-6, IL-18alpha, IL-12: Inflammation

TYPE 1 IFN(IFN-alpha, IFN-beta): potent antiviral effect:

Type 1 interferon (IFN)=antiviral effect and is secreted upon PRR signaling

Binds to receptor on surroundinf ¢ to trigger intra¢re signaling so gene can be expressed(transc factor or
gene that inhibit viral replication so can halt/slow viral infection)

Q

Chemokines

A

CC chemokine (CCL2) and CXC chem (ex. CXCL8 or IL-8): differnce in theri location of two cystein residue

Chemokine receptor=G-Protein coupled receptor: transduce signal via interaction w/ GDP/GTP binding G P
Many receptor can bind more than one chemokine and many chemokine can bind to more than one receptor

Chemokines direct leukocyte migration (chemotaxis): signaling thru chemokine receptors helps cells move to a different areas: change in cell adhesiveness, change in £ cytoskeleton, induce mvt of leukocyte up a chemokine concentration gradient

Q

Migration and costimulation

A

PRR singaling triggers migration and targetin gof DC to lymphoid tissue

Increased expression of costimulatory molecule (CD80, CD86 aka B.1/B7.2)

Study of erreots of TLR-3 AND IRF7 dependent type I-IFN production and amplifiaction

A

2groups: asymptomatic and life-threatening COVID, and the last couldnt make type 1 interferon vs asymptmatic that had them

Q

Adhesion molecule

A

Diff families (selectins, integrins, immunoglobulin superfamily)

Diff tissue distribution of these adhesiomn mol

Some adhesion mol ar expressed at baseline (always) some other are expressed a lot or only upregulated when there’s infection

REcruitement of leukocyte

A

Monocyte(precurosor of macrophage), neutrophils and other leukocyte recruited to site of infection

HEat, redness, swelling (edema), pain, vasodilation+inflammation SHOULD ALWAYS BE ACUTE TO CLEAR IT…Sever or chornic inflmmation: arthritis or loss of fct

A

Check pic 5

Rolling adhesion: rolling due to adhesion

Tight binding: anchoring takes place
