WEEK 5 Flashcards
(28 cards)
The mechanism of transferring data between two devices connected over a network.
Transmission mode
What are the three types of transmission modes?
Simplex Mode
Half duplex Mode
Full duplex Mode
Data can be sent only in one direction, We cannot send a message back to the sender; Communication is unidirectional.
Simplex Mode
What are the examples of simplex mode?
loudspeakers, television broadcasting, television and remote, keyboard and monitor etc.
Data can be transmitted in both directions, but not at the same time.
Half duplex mode
What are the example of half duplex mode?
Walkie-talkie, where messages are sent one at a time in both directions.
we can send data in both the directions as it is bidirectional at the same time in other words, data can be sent in both directions simultaneously.
Full duplex mode
What are the example of Full duplex mode?
Telephone Network in which there is communication between two persons by a telephone line, using which both can talk and listen at the same time.
To connect and transfer data between computers, routers, switches, and storage area networks.
Network cables
What is the most commonly used type of network cable?
Twisted pair cable
What are the two types of twisted pair cable?
Shielded cable (STP Cable)
Unshielded (UTP Cable)
What are the two common types of Ethernet network cables?
Straight cable
Crossover cable
When the devices are the same.
Crossover cable
When devices are different.
Straight cable
