Q

What is a consideration for mx lateral incisors and canines RCT?

A

DP curvature (not straight). Need to curve stainless steel files to avoid perforation. Don’t need to bend NiTi

16
Q

Why are ultrasound tips useful for clearing access cavities?

A

Can remove calcifications

17
Q

How to drill access cavity for mx central incisor?

A
  • Place bur perpendicular to tooth surface and drill 2-3mm.
  • Change inclination to long access to reach pulp chamber
  • Final access cavity is similar to triangular shaped
18
Q

What is access cavity shape for maxillary canine?

A

Oval

19
Q

How to drill access cavity first maxillary premolar?

A

Drill on middle of tooth between B and P. Once you feel drop, use diamond bur with non cutting tip to get straight view of canal orifice

20
Q

What should be used to smoothen access cavity walls?

A
  • Ultrasound tips
  • Burs with non cutting end
21
Q

What is most common configuration of root canals in maxillary 1st molars with 4 canals?

A

2 MB canals merge together most commonly. Sometimes can be separate

22
Q

Describe access cavity for maxillary molars

A
  • Triangle shape as 2 B canal and 1 P canal
  • If 4th canal present it will be in-between MB and P
23
Q

If a mandibular incisor has 2 canals, where will they be located?

A

L and B

24
Q

How to clean mandibular incisors canals?

A

Quite difficult. Pulp is quite flattened so instrument won’t touch all walls. Important to use H file to scrape all walls and use NaOCl

25
Q

How to do access cavity for md incisors?

A
  • Use bur perpendicular to L surface 2-3mm
  • Change angulation to long axis to reach pulp chamber
26
Q

What is is average length of tooth measuring from?

A

Incisal/occ surface to end of tooth

27
Q

Why should you completely remove roof of access cavity?

A

File will bend otherwise. Want it straight

28
Q

How is C shaped canal managed?

A

Need to do cleaning and shaping all the way around

29
Q

Describe access cavity for md premolars?

A

Oval/round shape in middle between B and L cusps

30
Q

Where will 4 canals be found in md molars?

A

DL, DB, MB, ML

31
Q

What is this extra canal known as in md first molar?

A

Mesial medial canal (4th or 5th canal of tooth)
