Describe the ‘Stab in the Back’ Theory

A

Many German citizens never believed their army had been defeated in the war, those who questioned the Treaty of Versailles believed the Army was betrayed by politicians, this meant they were ‘Stabbed in the Back’ and were forced to surrender.
