PRESBYTERIANISM = “the first really effective pressure group in parliamentary history”

BUT: Eliza vetoed attempts to pressure her into a more Puritan settlement.
AND: after 1573 confirmation of 39 Articles, parliamentary pressure from Puritans ceased
AND: moderate puritans in parliament wouldn’t support radical bills anyway e.g. COPE’S BILL & BOOK 1587
