-Boom towns rapidly grew because of prospectors (people who were looking to get rich)
-When gold ran out, boom towns turned into ghost towns
-Mostly young Chinese & European immigrants, people from Australia, Mexico, and the east coast
-When the gold “ran out”- people turned to farming, ranching, trading, and also set up businesses to sell food & supplies to miners.
Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo
Ended Mexican-American war between U.S. and Mexico, as well as helped the U.S. gain vast land from the treaty.
