Nature theory
-our behaviour is natural
-some of our behaviour is genetic
-twins often share the same characteristics
-scientists suggest we inherit behaviour from our parents e.g the Jim twins
Nurture theory
-behaviour is learnt through agencies of socialisation e.g the family and is a result of our up bringing
-society, down to our social environment
-feral children do not naturally have the basic skills and therefore must be taught them
-some people kill themselves Wich goes against the idea of the idea that we have an innate desire to keep our selves alive
What does cultural diversity support
NUTURE THEORY
Why?-because of the range of different cultures that exists e.g the foods that people eat.
Socialisation
The process of learning the expected rules and norms and values of a culture
What’s primary socialisation
The family is a child first social group so it’s where the early learning takes place.
It’s where we are taught attitudes, skills, knowledge, norms and values by are family
-where children learn to behave
Why is it important
It teaches children how to behave and what is acceptable
Without socialisation there would be chaos in society
Teaches children what is expected of them
Feral children is an example that without primary socialisation we find it hard to fit in .
